The Honeywell KRX-1053 high frequency receiver/exciter is a component of a KHF-1050 HF Radio Communications System that operates from 2 to 29.999 mHz in 100 Hz synthesized steps. The KHF-1050 HF System consists of a KPA-1052 Power Amplifier, KRX-1053 Receiver/Exciter, PS-440 Control unit and the KAC-1052 Antenna Coupler. The KRX-1053 performs the receiver functions and provides a lower power transmitter drive signal. The Received signals to the KRX-1053 Receiver/Exciter go through the KAC-1052 and KPA-1052 Power Amplifier.
The KRX-1053 is passively cooled with the internal heat being transferred to the chassis side walls. The side walls are naturally convected and radiated to the surrounding surfaces of the aircraft. The KRX-1053 has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +70°C. The KRX-1053 has an aluminum exterior housing that is 10.82 inches deep, 5.00 inches long, 3.00 inches wide and weighs 5.91 pounds nominal.
