The Honeywell KTA-810 Traffic Advisory Unit is the main component of the KTA-870 Traffic Advisory System. The KTA-810 consists of a computerized control system and an L-band receiver-transmitter. The KTA-810 interfaces with a control panel, display, directional antenna, omnidirectional antenna, and aircraft systems. The KTA-870 typical system consists of a KTA-810 processor unit, 1 or 2 KA-815 directional antennas , configuration module, and installation kits and is compatible on most modern multi-function displays. The KTA-810 system detects nearby aircraft with ATCRBS Mode C or Mode S Transponders and display them on a traffic advisory display or issue an aural alert. The KTA-810 system can track a total of 45 intruders.

The KTA-810 is 7.00 inches high, 13.80 inches deep, 4.70 inches wide and weighs 10 pounds maximum. The convection cooled KTA-810 operates at an altitude up to 50,000 feet and in a temperature range of -55°C to +70°C. The KTA-810 uses an input voltage range of +22 to +30 VDC but +28 VDC is nominal.
