The Honeywell KMH-820 Multi-Hazard Awareness Unit is the main component of the KMH-880 Multi-Hazard Awareness System. The KMH-820 contains a computerized control system and an L-band receiver-transmitter. The KMH-820 interfaces with a control panel, display, directional antenna, omnidirectional antenna, and aircraft systems. The KMH-880 typical system consists of a KMH-820 processor unit, 2 KA-815 directional antennas , configuration module, and installation kits and is compatible on most modern multi-function displays.

The KMH-820 is 7.00 inches high, 13.80 inches deep, 4.70 inches wide and weighs 10 pounds maximum. The convection cooled KMH-820 operates at an altitude up to 50,000 feet and in a temperature range of -55°C to +70°C. The KMH-820 uses an input voltage range of +22 to +30 VDC but +28 VDC is nominal. The KMH-820 is equipped with an EGPWS ,Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System, computer. The KMH-820 can be configured with or without an internal GPS dependent on the part number.
